Dependancy Theory

I use the media mainly to entertain myself and to keep myself entertained for hours. I mainly use YouTube, Twitter and Instagram as the main ways to entertain myself however I will still use programs like YouTube and Twitter for information or to keep up with what is going on around the world so that I can keep up with what's going on without having to pick up a newspaper and having to read endless stories about stuff that I am not interested in.

I believe that I am very dependent on current media because it's a form of diversion or escapism because I don't what to be watching TV and be watching terrible programmes hoping that I find something that is some what decent instead I could on the internet watching programmes like Suits, Breaking Bad or even Interstellar on the internet instead watching the programmes I want to see.

The dependence of current media has dramatically increased throughout the past 10 years because of the number of ways that we can access media for example instead of having to watch the news to find out what is going on in the world now we can go the internet and the same information will be in a article or a short 5-10 minute video instead which is better in comparison to massive broadcasters like Channel 4 with a 50 minute news program or BBC News which has a 30 minute news programme. Or entertainment before we would have to watch TV for hours just to find the program we wanted to see and there was always a chance you would miss it now we can watch programmes we have missed on catchup TV like BBC iPlayer or 4oD or even Sky+ which allows you to record the programme you want to watch.
