Learner Responce Question 4

WWW - Plenty of good points made, particularly in Q2 when you focus on the question very well.

EBI - Exam technique: you don't answer the question for question three and particularly Q4  and this really holds you back.

Question: How are the Paralympic Games represented in the trailer as a much anticipated sporting event?

LR:

With the Paralympic Games in general not getting as much attention in comparison to the Olympic Games Channel 4 needed to showcase with their advert that the people you are going to be watching in the Paralympic Games are not only just as good as the Olympicans but should be respected as much due to what they have been through and the high quality of performance that they are still providing.

Also they wanted to is with the trailer they wanted to provide the atmosphere created from the Paralympics and at the same time briefly show how some of these people became amputee with the trailer showing a car accident, a baby scan and a war scene. However they immediately cut straight to someone training again as a way to say that taking part in sport is a way to stop griefing and having some fun again. Also with the music they played almost throughout the trailer they wanted to make it infamous to the Paralympics so they used it for their opening theme in their Paralympics Coverage, in the trailer for the Paralympics and when the show "The Last Leg" which showcased the three hosts of the Paralympic Games they used the same theme as a way for the viewer to always think of the Paralympic Games when you hear that song.

They also wanted to change the image of Paralympians because whenever the Olympics ends and the Paralympics begin their would be a massive drop in ratings due to the audience not being interested with the Paralympics even if they are doing the same activities that the Olympians are doing. Which means that the audience don't show as much respect in comparison to the Olympians. So Channel 4 decided to make the slogan of the advert called meet the superhumans which plays with the idea of amputees being stronger than Olympicans and by showcasing what they can do and including more slogans in the trailer like "Forget everything you thought you knew about humans" or "It's time to battle" or "Forget everything you thought you knew about strength" as a way to make the Paralympics as serious as the Olympics.
